Description:

Bon Aventure is a masthead sloop with surprising performance, a strong build and equipped to cruise the world. This well-made French cruiser has a fairly contemporary underbody and is strong enough to venture offshore. Finding one is the problem. Overall structural properties compare directly to the finest boat builders such as Swan and Hallberg Rassy.

This pocket cruiser is easily handled, and offers safety, spaciousness and style. Solid Fiberglass hull built to Lloyds 1A Ocean Standards with an extensive network of glassed in foam stringers. Hull and deck are joined on an inward turning flange that is bolted through an aluminum toe-rail on 100mm centers and fiber glassed on the underside for ultimate strength and no worries of leaks. Bulkheads are bonded full length into the hull on both side with heavy layers of fiberglass. This vessel is not “glued” together like so many modern builders tend to do.

Though out of production since 1987, this French cruiser receives high marks from owners who appreciate high quality construction, comfortable accommodations belowdecks, and a seakindly motion. It stands in stark contrast to the rounded, modern designs and flashy interiors currently produced by French manufacturers.

The Company: Chantier Henri Wauquiez, of Lille, France, was formed and commenced producing boats in the 1960's, when Henry Wauquiez became so enamored with the sailing characteristics of his personal sailboat, the Holman and Pye-designed Elizabethan 29, that he received a license to produce the boat in France.
